Datsun 240z Concept

Recommended Posts

Guest GRID

Started on a new concept now.

I dont think the 350z resembles much from the 240z so i desided to make one myself, with the feel of the 240z from the 70s.

This is what i got so far

Really nice overall - esp the back. My biggest gripe right now is the front grille area. I think you've got too much of the Honda Civic body kit look with all the open chicken mesh. I think there could be some nice scuplting done in that area that fills in some of the area and adds to the sophistication of the design. While I like the headlight (new school projector in an old school housing look) I'm thinking it would add to the modern theme if maybe their was a transparent external enclosure that matched with the body housing. Would look a bit more aerodynamic and high tech (which seems to be more of what you were going for) while still maintaining the lines you have now.

That is really cool, I like the lines, would nice to see comparison to the 240 of the 70's also would like to see a couple of sketches that would be nice!

Here´s a original 240z

I havent made any sketches, i design it in 3D, starting in low poly then add more and more

Here´s a pic of the mesh, half is smoothed like in the renderstate.

It's okay..... but it looks too much like the old one. It should be modernized somehow.

Very beautiful and precise modeling. but as i always doubt towards car design, i didn't get what makes your car different from others?

Well, no other car looks like this one, and i like retro-design in some extent.

And since i´m not designing more than how it looks i dont know if theres something more that makes it different :o

I like a lot, looks like old one, but got little hints of modern design, like the mean front spoiler, grills and solid lines, Done very well, I find trying to re-create a classic is incredibly hard work.

Like everyone else,.. I too like what you're doing with this,.. you've definitely captured the past and added some of the present style/appeal... very nice work!

It´s awsome, i love the 70ths lines.

If you just clean upp the front i´ll buy it straight away! (i dont know how really but there is to much going on there, for my taste.)

keep up the good work!

Here´s a quicktest with materials, then the front doesnt stick out so much.

But i´m going to test some more 70´s inspired colors on it later.

Dude, the craftsmanship on that thing is stunning. The only crit I would have is ixnay on the scooped version. It just has nothing to do with any of the Z cars. Just crease that line that comes off the headlamp all the way back over the rear fenders. One person said it might be a little too close to the original. Yeah. Maybe. But it looks incredible regardless.
