Black Biro's

Recommended Posts

Guest firecracker

you have to consider some of those other rollerball pens that dont have the same gloopy sticky ink as Biros.

They have darker ink, and all the liquid ink one can be refilled too (you can put india ink in them)

but you have to ask yourself, would that really be the same biro you have some to love ?

People like to use biro's because they DO have that sticky ink, which isnt instantly dark like using wet ink.

It is what allows for organic biro sketching, otherwise it would be straight line, ink cross-hatch rendering which is completley different.

Also another thing, ALL black is made of dark intense colours.

The ones that are not abviously blue etc are a mixture of a number of colurs.

What your are probably looking for is a black which looks more like grey when applied lightly.

For this I would reccomend a UNI- jetstream.

I don't think that the UNI- jetstream has the sticky ink.

I still don't think a black sticky ink Biro like pen exists.

I recently start using Faber Castell Ball Pen 1444B and 1444. 2 black ball pens with 2 different thickness. Cheap (0.8 rmb) and good quality. My recommendation!

... plus it's dark purple.

are you talking about the UNI ?

to be honest, I had an old empty one so I couldnt check its "blackness"

But I do remember it being a Biro. Definteley NOT liquid ink or Gel.

It just has really low friction.

Ill go to a stationers some time and try a few out.

No i'm talking about the Bic pens - the UNI is black but not the same feel as the Bic biros.

didn't you ever do the experiment in primary school where you draw a big spot in the middle of a strip a piece of filter paper, and then put one end into a glass of water? the water is drawn through the paper by capillary action and draws out the constituent components of the ink

i think you'll find most ball points use a very dark blue or purple ink for the black. if i recall some of the wetter inks are actually dark green
