New Boy On The Block

Eventually I managed to get to this stage.

I will keep adding more detail to this, including improving the surfacing, which at the moment is shocking to say the least. I think the area around the cockpit will be done first as it looks a bit... crap. :)

Added some colour, and a few more details...

The new colour has bought out all the imperfections in the surface, mainly around the inside of the rear arch. Attempting to fix these next...

JUst messing about now really, sorry, I'm just abusing the download manager as it is the only one I can get to work on my prehistoric internet connection!

Done some CFD aero tests today using CosmosFloworks.

Pressure plots didn;t work for some reason, and the velocity plots looks a little dubious, but overall I'm happy with the basic results. Will be doing some more advanced ones soon.

This is pretty sweet. I'd love to see this come to fruition! I'm a mechanical engineering student, and want to do an individual project for senior design. Your engine is really neat, I can't wait for some more specs/research on it. These guys did a pretty neat project for their industrial design degree:

Keep up the good work, I'm going to keep following this!

Cheers for that, just having a look at that website now.

My course is nearing the end now, so progress might become somewhat slower, although I'm going to keep developing this as I have a pipedream that someday I might actually be able to make it. I'll more likely be replacing the engine with a Hyabusa V8. That way, it makes production viable as oposed to using a concept engine. The bodywork is being kept simple for two reasons. 1. to keep costs down should I want to have it manufactured, and 2, my cad skills are limited when it comes to that kind of freeform design!

CFD work is being undertaken at the moment, addition of underbody venturi tunnels, a dual phase diffuser and small rear lip slpoier appear to have reduced drag my combining the high and low pressure regrions at the rear of the car better. Doesn't produce downforce, but it certainly reduces lift. Essentially the same thing in lyamans terms, but if we're being technical... :)

A few of todays work, added more deatil to the body, including a dual phase diffuser to aid underbody aerodynamics, engine air intakes and some split rim wheels.
