Viz Vs 3ds Max

Recommended Posts

Guest :: s a r a h ::

Hi everyone,

I've just started working for a company as a Product Designer. They currently have no rendering package, which I want to change!!

I have used 3ds Max so know what that has to offer....can anyone let me know how Viz measures up in terms of product design type rendering?

I have been told that it is more beneficial for applications like architecture?

Would love to know anyone's thoughts!

Thanks,

Sarah :-)

Viz is essentially a stripped down version of Max that lacks some of Max's more high end animation and rendering features. Outside of that they are essentially the same program.

You can compare the feature sets directly on Autodesks web site.

For some really good results and high end finshing quickly, i d go for Image studio2008....

The company i worked for made the swicth from VIZ to IS2008 and it was seamless. Clients commented on the rendering quality too as opposed to 3dsVIZ...

Hope that helps.

Oh n btw, autodesk do a free trial for yout to test out!

Depending on how large the studio is and what sort of renderings your doing, maxwell has a nice box license if you were doing a small render farm, works out a lot cheaper even if you only had 4 quad core machines than getting vRay or Mental Ray as stand alone licenses as they are per cpu core.
