Simple example about Surface in SolidWorls !

I use SolidWorks 2004, and this example from "SolidWorks Training Manual" Of SolidWorls Co. If verybody knew it, i will stop, otherwise, i with post all step (include 24 steps). This is pic of it, after you finish this example !

Note : One of keys to any sweep operation is creating the required curves to use as the path or guides. In this example, a decorative piece of wrought iron is modeled by sweeping a circle along a curved path. The path is created by finding the intersection between two reference surfaces.

 

1. Open part.

Open the existing part name Wrought Iron. (I'll provide if you need). This represents the base of an ornamental object such as the base of a lamp.

2. Hide solid

Right click the revolve feature, and select Hide Solid Body.

 

3. Open a sketch.

Insert a new sketch on the Front plane.

 

4. Center line.

Sketch a vertical centerline 8'' long (use inch unit)

 

5. Create spline.

Click Spine and sketch a spline whose shape is approximately the same as the one shown in the illustration at the right. The spline should have 7 interpolant points.

6. Add relations.

Add Verticalrelations between the following pairs of points :

- The first and seventh.

- The second and sixth.

- The third and fifth.

Add Horizontal relations between the following :

- The bottom point on the spline and the bottom end of the centerline.

- The top point on the spline and the top end of the centerline.

 

7. Centerlines.

Sketch two Vertical centerlines, one from each end of the spline as shown.

 

8. Tangent control.

Add a Tangent relation between each centerline and the spline.

9. Midpoint.

Sketch a centerline from the Midpoinr of the vertical centerline to the foutth (the middle) point on the spline. Add a Horizonta relation to this centerline.

 

10. Dimension.

Use ordinate dimensions to dimension the spline points. To maintain symmetry in the spline, you can link the values of the pairs of vertical ordinate dimensions.
