One of the latest additions to the elite Indian Institute of Science, CPDM is dedicated towards the advancement of knowledge through continuous research in the area of design. The core competency of CPDM lies in the successful amalgamation of research in design (M.Sc.(Engg.) and Ph.D.) and design in practice (M.Des.). CPDM firmly believes that product designers and design researchers are complementary to each other. While designers create products to improve the society, design researchers develop effective design methods and techniques for better design.
Salient points about CPDM
Objective is to pursue excellence in education, research and industrial interaction in the area of product design.

My name is Amit. I have completed my M.Des. from Centre for Product Design & Manufacturing, IISc, Bangalore.
CPDM at IISc is a really fantastic place to work.
This Product Design Dept. is different than other design schools in India. Here every student gets an opportunity to make the Functional Prototypes of the innovative ideas they put for the final year project. This does not happen in other design schools in India.
Personally, I enjoyed this Course in this Dept. at IISc.
If anybody wants any info about this course, contents, guidance & finally life at CPDM, IISc ,please write to me at
Hav a good time.
