Guest Delinquent Report post Posted March 7, 2006 Axelrod, did you do more work with 3D curves than anything else? I'm trying to find the best approach to several parts of the car I'm designing, just trying to work out what's going to be most efficient use of time and effort - take the side windows, on my car they are curved equally along length - like a portion of a tube. Do I draw a simple square surface curved, and then cut out the shape by projecting a curve onto it, or do I manually draw the outline of the window, trying to get an equal curve along it?! All confusing stuff for a newbie
Guest patywagon Report post Posted March 23, 2006 how did you make the animations jumping and going down the stairs? what programs were those?

In order to get the photorendered animation, that was a bit tricky... I used Animator to capture each frame from COSMOSMotion (screen capture feature), and then Photoworks to render each frame that Animator captured. Its a long process, each frame took between 40-50 seconds to render, which is typical of ray-trace rendering. Alex
vander 10 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 hey those are some awesome sw renderings! I was just curious what version of solidworks you are using? . . . i have SW 2005 and for some reson i was unable to open the file. keep up the awesome posts!
Guest boosch Report post Posted May 10, 2006 haha, i think people are blown away by your work, too much for constructive crit. i know i cant say anything, i have only just started with solidworks, it takes me hours to get anything half realistic-just playing around and experimenting. Goodluck with the future and hope we will see more!
GamesBars 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2006 Hi I was wondering if there is anyway to open the file if I'm using Solidworks 2005? Thanx.

Guest robbie Report post Posted June 24, 2006 Hi there great work on the models, I learn so much just by looking through the model's feature tree. One question though, I downloaded the files and havene't seen the animination or the renderings people are talking about. Can i access these from the models or did I miss some mpegs/jpegs to download?
Guest w i l l Report post Posted September 5, 2006 I'm learning surfaces at the moment. I see a lot of models with the step of offsetting a surface 0mm. Why is this? Why not build the feature on the original surface?
Guest AxelRod Report post Posted September 6, 2006 The offset by 0mm turns the offset tool into a copy tool. Sometimes you need more than one copy of the same surface.
Guest Narf Report post Posted December 6, 2006 AxelRod firstly I have to tell you , I really like your work , I also like the subject of the F100 ( thats how / why I found your work in the first place ) Must ask you , where can I get Blueprint Pics of the F100 ? Im not so keen on using photos as prints ( tho yours has turned out extreemly well ) . Does anybody have for instance a scan of the Tamiya instrucktions for the Midnight Pumpkin R/C Car or static model / workshop manual Blueprints ? I downloaded your kindly submitted model to see how it was done , I intend trying a car body soon & was looking for F1 prints , your F1 has inspired me (knowing its possible is a big motivational drive) Your Vids are also great , keep up the good work , & thankyou for being kind enough to share your models for the gain of knowlage , I can see alot of work goes into them . I'm sure I copied them to my HDD a few of months ago, but I can't find them in any of the computers I work with... Probably they were erased in some of the cleanings... Could someone send them to my email?! duartemv@gmail.com Thanks!
Guest mcgreg Report post Posted January 15, 2007 I've looking at the Pantera design and I'm having some problems in understanding the logic some of the steps, especially why there are so many surface offsets by 0inch?!!! They don't seem to contribute anything to the modelling and just add more size to the file! Could someone explain the reasons behind these offsets? Thanks! This may be surface trim, extend, untrim, patch ect... If you look deeper into the model you will see that i later use those surface offsets to create new geometry. note: To all that may be trying to download files, the links no longer work. I no longer work for the company that had the files on their FTP site, therefore i no longer have control of the download location. I will try to find another server to place the files, or if someone else knows of a free place to post the files, please PM me.
