Guest mr product Report post Posted September 7, 2005 Hi, Please could you give me some feedback on my online portfolio? www.coroflot.com/studiomic Thanks. Michael Leung
Guest Marra Report post Posted September 7, 2005 Really good ideas and I always like when I see someone out there on the same wavelength as me when it comes to using more tactile and meaningful meterials for product design. How well researched is the Nokia design? Would it truly work and have there been any durability tests carried out so far? The wooden storage units also interest me as I've had a similar idea but always thought how the shrinkage/warping of the wood would affect the electronics inside and essentially the products overall strength. Great ideas though, keep them coming!
Guest rodanx86 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Nice stuff. I agree with Marra, not enough people take materials into account these days. It seems everything defaults to injection molded plastic....
Guest mr product Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Hi guys, Thanks for the comments. Marra, do you have any work I could see online? Be cool to see your work. You too Rodanx. Regarding the Ceramic Mobile: it was more of a conceptual product. I developed the exterior with an advance ceramics company in the UK - just a couple of e-mails and phone calls - nothing that thorough. I think that the phone is more of a statement or a critical piece of design. Marketed Nokia and Arabia, to show where the mobile phone market could go. I'm sick of upgrades. The Hardwood USB contains a self-enclosed USB flash drive component. I made several in the past 3 months. Hopefully they will stand the test of time. Thanks again for your comments. Guest benko Report post Posted September 8, 2005 hey man that's really clean and really nice ... i really like the simplicity of your product , the ceramic phone is a good idea , but when i saw my phone , this one will be broken after one week , nice one though. did you actually realise this big lego head , how ??? keep te good work
Guest mr product Report post Posted September 12, 2005 Hi Benko, Thanks for the comments. The Ceramic Mobile is made from an industrial ceramic called zirconia, a very strong ceramic that is tougher than steel. Each plate is "housed" in a polycarbonate frame - therfore further reducing the risk of breakage. The LEGO Ed is designed in PE plastic. However, the prototype in the photo is made from MFD and Bendy ply. Michael Leung

Guest mr product Report post Posted September 13, 2005 Cheers Bprose. I still haven't sent it to LEGO yet. I'm so lazy. Michael Leung
Guest dark. Report post Posted September 14, 2005 I like your work - really good. Using different materials is the key to forward thinking design.
Guest mr product Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Dear Dark, Thanks for the comments. You're right, design is dark. Especially the business side of it - sourcing components, writing tedious e-mails, etc. Michael Leung
