Hello everyone! I'm currently working on a humidifier product and would like to include a power cord that isn't the standard cord that can be found on most products. I need the power cord to wrap around the foot of the product so that it is stored when not in use, which makes the overall thickness of the cord an important constraint to consider. I really like the way that apple products and the google home device have unique power cords that appear different than most cords but both of those companies can afford to go out of their way to create a custom power cord.

Does anyone have any experience when it comes to sourcing or designing power cords for products? Is there a standard for the appropriate cord length to use?

There are different standards, these cables come in all kinds of sizes. There are some good models available on Grabcad as they regularly launch 3D design competitions for electronic devices. As a designer I find 1.5m a great cable length.
