What version of Showcase/Solidworks are you using?

Can you import other file types?

showcase 2011 and my friends use solidworks 2010

and i tried to import another kind of files like alias studio files , and it works.

are you trying to import sldprt or sldasm files? try saving them as something else like an Iges file, step or parasolid and see if it allows that.

Can you import the solid part files? Or do neither the parts nor assemblies work?

I don't have a copy of SW so I can't test. I would say try submitting a help ticket to Autodesk.

running Showcase and SolidWorks at the same time and drag S/W file to showcase directly.

You'll see it translates automatically.
