Solidworks Mates

Recommended Posts

I have a large assembly model with many parts and mates.

There are 4 or 5 specific mates that I need to access and adjust to show the client the models movement.

I dont want to trawl through hundreds of mates to access the specific ones.

Is there a shortcut I can link to the mates so I can access them quickly through the main feature manager, rather than going through the submenus?

You can add your favourite mates to the new folder in desing tree. Or you can use Quick view / Selective open during opening the assembly and next load only these moving parts.

At the end you can select these parts and next property manager icon - you can find all mates (black) and bolded common (red) for selected components.

You can also click on the part you know has a mate that locks it in position, and in the pop-up menu there is a View Mates command. You can see all the mates and there are options to suppress them, ideal for this.

If you want you can then save a different configuration with the mates suppressed, in case you need to flip back and forth between restrained and unrestrained often.
