Is This A Good Method?

Recommended Posts

Guest WMonkey

Hello, I found this forum yesterday and I love it.

My question is whether the method that I used (which I taught at my university) to 3D is good or not. Accept recommendations, improvements and other programs, etc...

Steps:

1.- Modeling the product in SolidEdge.

2.- Export to AutoCAD.

3.- Select layers in AutoCAD.

4.- Export to 3ds Max.

5.- Working with textures, lighting and final rendering in 3ds Max.

Thanks, and sorry if this question has already done before (I didn't find) and my poor english.

I appreciate your answer but if you dont' explain is useless. :P

I was especially surprised that even the step of creating the product in SolidEdge you say it's wrong.

Well, sure it works but it's just rather convoluted. Other CAD programs include or have optional integrated 'good' renderers, or at least a more direct means of exporting to other software. Max can't read IGES or any other format from SolidEdge?

monkey, let me explain on behalf of DE :P

Pro-e, a parametric modeller, would create your model, your drawings and also create your final rendering using the same renderer as 3DS max, the Mental Ray application all within pro-e itself... No messin !!
