Need Help With Evaluations

hello to all,
thanks for your time and expertise. i think i have a great idea for a new product and cant afford to pay a company for there evaluation fees. i have read some companies will work on a contingency basis but i really do not understand enough about these companies to make a good sound decision. i would greatly appreciate information on what companies that i could send my sketches and detailed info to that would give me a free evaluation.

thank you in advance for any and all help

Ferrari Toccare 4G Mouse

Hello everyone,

I had looked at the current Ferrari mice created by Acer and to be honest thought they were not really conveying the full ferrari experience. So i wanted to design a mouse packed with the latest technology but most importantly conveyed ferrari styling and luxury couture.

I named it Toccare which means Touch in italian, the buttons are shrowded with either black suede or leather and are not visible by any cut lines, the body of the mouse comes in three editions, a leightweight plastic with super hi gloss red finish, carbon fibre for the really expensive edition or a ceramic white edition for those that want a white Ferrari mouse to go with their apple computer.

I also designed the presentation box in the style of a tool box that the F1 team have in their garages

I Hope you like this concept and let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Stuck With Logo Design

Hello people,

I'm trying to design a logo for my website. However, something in the logo is not right, but I don't know what.
Either, I think I'm out of creative ideas and therefore i posted the logo on this forum hoping for some creative minds to provide some useful feedback or suggestions.
I would like to have some feedback regarding used colors, lines and typography.

I don't have a design background or special knowledge of graphical tools or so.

Thanks in advance!

Led Light Base

The following is a sketch I have made of a base unit for an LED lamp I would like to make. I am a noob at product design so any help would be great.

The idea is that an LED matrix grid would be embedded on the top section of the unit in the picture. On top of that will sit a glass lamp unit.

Where is the best place to start with this? I want to use super high brightness LEDS and then cover them with something like rice paper to conceal their identity.

And the base unit, I dont want this to be plastic. Does anyone have any suggestions for a slick clean finish, and how to have it constructed?

Thanks.

Package Design

Hi folks,

Been a long time, and my user account was even deleted

Anyways I am an industrial designer who hit a problem at work, usually I design various products, but now my boss wants me to design the packaging as well... But I don't really know were to start, since I don't have any education at all in it.

For starters I've come up with a really nice designs, which I have got praised for, on the other hand is these designs made in hard paper (very thick paper) and not fold-able, which leads to a lot of "air transportation". And since I don't have any knowledge in paper/package design at all I've hit the wall so to say, I don't really know how to make these nice designs, since the lack of material knowledge (paper in this case)

Anyone that is in the same position or have any tips regarding package design, maybe some good books of what you should/shouldn't do when it comes to package design.

Best regards,

Industrial Design As A Career/ Major?

Hello, i was wondering if the career/major industrial design is a good thing to go into in this type of economy? Ive always been interested in the arts and to be honest i want me career to have a slight hint of that within it. I could become a financial analysis, a nurse, or any of those highly in-demand fields, but to be honest im not that interested in those fields. Then again is going into a field such as industrial design worth it? That's why im asking this question, i just need some answers regarding this field.

I also am slightly juggling two different schools if i went into industrial design. Im already attending Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) but im looking to transfer to University of Houston (UH), mainly to save money and not have a HUGE load of student loans to pay off when i graduate. But then again i look at the curriculum that is offered at UH and Its not nearly as well developed and focused as the one at SCAD. What i would be doing is going to UH for the two middle years of college and then transfer back my senior year at SCAD to graduate from here. But the only thing is, is it worth the jeopardized education? Will employers actually care if i go to UH instead of SCAD for two years? Will transferring for those two years possibly hurt my future as an Industrial Designer, if i continue in the field?

So really i have a good amount of questions to be answered and id greatly appreciate it if you could try to answer at least the majority of them. Here are the questions laid out.

Pertaining to Industrial Design as a career/major:
-Is the career/major of industrial design a good thing to go into in this type of economy?
+Benefits/downfalls?

Pertaining to schooling if i do continue in the industrial design field?
-Would my education be jeopardized if i transferred? and if so is it worth it?
-Will employers actually care if i go to UH instead of SCAD for two years?
-Will transferring for those two years possibly hurt my future as an Industrial Designer, if i continue in the field?

I just want to say thank you in advance, this is really something that has been weighing on me.

Hi,
Just wanted to share my kickstarter footwear project. The shoes are inspired by ping pong, and we’re trying to raise enough to create a free design space in NY with the sale of these shoes. We want to create a space for young designers to work on their projects, meet mentors and showcase their work in a professional environment.

Heres the link to the video; http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lup/lup-ping-pong-inspired-footwear
