  1. I think it depends on what you are trying to do. There are many free 3D programs out there that are decent (Blender) is one that comes to mind. I've used Solidworks, Pro-Engineer and Inventor in the past many years. I tend to like Solidworks the most but that's because we use some of the add-ons like Simulator, etc. But these bigger companies tend to have a hefty pricetag for the hobbyiest. Take a look at Blender. I haven't played with it too much but it's free. Well last time I checked it was. Let us know what you decide to go with.

    Introductions!

    Hello All, After reading many of the post for a while, I decided to join. This looks like a great community and has a lot of design Ideas. I'm a mechanical designer with about 8 years experience in product development and manufacturing. I'm from the beautiful east coast of Canada. I'm hoping to get inspired and see the great work from other forum members.
