    Glossy Plastic Material?

My guess is ABS. ABS is what LEGOS are made of and it is a very easy to form and mold plastic. Try http://www.iplasticsupply.com/materials/abs-cycolac-absylux-royalite-sheet-rod. They have data sheets and other guides to help you in picking a plastic for your design.

    Material Selection

Try ABS, it is a great vacuum and thermo-forming plastic. Try http://www.iplasticsupply.com/materials/abs-cycolac-absylux-royalite-sheet-rod. They have both textured or hair cell material as well as machine grade in white and black.
  3. Try ABS from http://hightechplastics.com/ ABS is a great machinable plastic that is good for prototyping and designing. I use it to make models and other small projects around the house. Try ABS, it should work well.
  4. HDPE, LDPE or Polyproplene are good bets. They come in thin sizes and are transparent to semi-transparent. I recently bought some HDPE at http://www.iplasticsupply.com/materials/polyethylene-hdpe-ldpe-sheet-rod for a cutting board. It's a great material.

    Lift A Platform

ABS, Delrin and UHMW would be good choices. They are tough, machinable plastics. I would probably recommend polyproplene as it is called a living hinge. Found a page that might give you some more info http://www.iplasticsupply.com/materials/polypro-polypropylene-sheet-rod
