ok well i know a brave bit about computers, not saying im an expert and there may be some holes in my information but i know a hell of alot more that the average cup of Joe. ok so this is what i think. i Dont think its my CPU, as my CPU scores very high up compared to latest CPU's that are out there. this takes into account CPUS above mine including the new Intel I7's as for Quads in my opinion there over rated and extremely over Heated. at the time of buying my Core2 Duo E8400, it was the best on the market bare none and was blowing all other Quads out of the water. i think the only compeition to it now would be the Intel I7 range and cause there so expensive im not ready to upgrade to one. again as for GPU, the 8800GTS OC 512mb with its G92 core blew all other 8800's including the Ultra and even some of the 9000 range from nvidia compared to Statistics and numbers, this was becuase it was the first (i think) to use the G92 core where as the others used an older .. if i remember G94 core the card is still very reliable and a good card at that. but what it lacks is that it needs another 512mb onboard ram to bring it up to 1GB onboard. like i siad most of nvidia's latest GPU range are still quite expensive and personaly im waiting to see what they bring out to benifit the Intel I7 range. ( Nvidia 10,000 range perhaps, and id reckon they will have 2gb onboard ) as for my 4gb ram, i use the following operating systems : Windows XP Pro 32bit - Old main (transphering files to the 64bit edition) Windows XP Pro 64bit - main Windows Seven 64bit - Testing ok so thats what i think, it may be right it may be wrong :sorry: but the fact is wer kinda geting off topic here. wasnt this topic about the problem of CS4.

A dual core would solve your problems. and it has 4 gb of ram right, or is that 1gb? Intel Core 2 Duo is a dual core !! - Hense its name :clapping: and yes i mean 4gb of ram - "CorshairXMS2, 4 x 1Gb sticks = 4GB

yea i noticed that problem too when making fast movements with the mouse or Tablet. if i tried to sketch a Large Curve, its as if the computer slows down. and it creats more of an L shape !! how do you fix that. i dont think my computer is that slow its a fairly desent rig to be honest Intel Core2 Duo - E8400 3.0Ghz Nvidia 8800GTS 512mb CorshairXMS2 4 x 1gb ram Asus Stiker exteme Mobo 1TB samsung F1 Spinpoint Harddrive what you think the problem is ?? seems to be more Software bassed problem than hardware.
  7. has any one else used Ashlar Cobalt V.8 or just me ?
  8. Hay, I started out using Solid Works 2005 used it for about 2 months on off. [Year - 2005] Then i got really into using Valve - Hammer World Editor i used it to create maps for popular games such as "Counterstrike source" and mainly for "Day of Defeat Source" i listed that one becuase i found it really good for being able to Visulise in 3D with just a complicated mesh of overlapping lines. was good training in my opinion. [Year - 2004 / 2006] I dabeled in using Rhino and 3D Studio Max but never got the hang of using them i would tend to open the program then my brain would go into overload and frustration. [Year - 2005 / 2006] Went back to using SolidWorks 2005 and got much better at it, and my models started achive greater complexity. managed to export some of my files to a Rapid Prytotyper (3D Printer) to create the models was awsome experiance. [Year - 2006] Went to University and was taught in the use of Ashlar Cobalt v.8 its a very powerfull 3D package im told. Its what i currently use and im still trying to get to grips with it. but ive come along way from the days i started to use 3D programs. [Year 2006 / Current] For anyone intrested ive posted links to both Cobalt V.8 and Hammer World Editor, notice in the "H.W.E" linked image the complexity of lines. Scorpio.tn1 Work

i guess my life or attitude reflets in my work then .. i can be lazy and messy at times, put when push comes to shove i can work really hard at what i do. Im at University studying "BA HONS Design Communication" im in my 2nd year, and im at the stage where im trying to find "Placement" then i will have my final 3rd year to finish after that. im hoping the placement will help me in desiding what i want to do as a carer, becuase at the moment im at the stage where i love bits of everything and im not sure what Field i want to Aim towards. Recently i felt i lean more towards the product design side of things. i love the marker renderings, im a bit of an inventor and very Practical, im capable at 3D program, and have good use of photoshop and graphics. i think whats holding me back is 2 things : 1st is Nervous about life after uni, its scary to think about and i just hope it all goes well, i dont wana end up some bum working in some dead end job for the rest of my life. the 2nd issue which eats away at me all the time and can tend to hold back my potential is .. "Am i any good ?" theres nothing worce than asking myself that question, and it really gets to me at times. makes me nervous about going for a job and if id be able to cope, or the dreaded thought of "turning up to uni and the interview laughing thinking that i just showed him 10yr old stuff" Damm ive got issues !! LOL Any Advice ??

    Best Marker To Use!

Damm lots of Bad reviews for the Tria's then !! im gona have to check out the Copics B4 i deside on a soal Marker. At the moment i have 28 Tria markers. "The Product Design 24 Pack" and 4 Loose ( 3 cool greys of variation light , medium and dark, and an Ice blue) i love the design of the new tria's over the old Pantone models, and i love the Nib system i havnt really expericand any problem with them as of yet, but im still in the .. Carefull stage with them, meaning im scared to death of using them becuase they expensive and im afraid of damaging them or letting the ink run out. in the begining when i had the 4 loose ones, i Didnt use marker pad. so one of them ran out Very quickly and i was dissapointed at that. but with the 24 Product design ones, ive only been using them with a marker pad and they are working much better for me. im quite dissapointed at the bad reviews they seem to be getting here on the Forums, because LoL .. i wanted to own the full set of 300 one day Are they Really that Bad a marker ?? Ive never tried the Copics, Are they really that much better ??

    Tea Light Holder

hay, i could see this object snapping in the middle if it was made from glass, espicaly if the user has to "Tip" or "Tap" the object to get the tea lights out. in my experiance on a number of times the wax as melted and Sealed the tea light inside the holder. and not to be on the naughty side, but i think if it was made from plastic it may have a dual funtion if used in the bedroom. perhaps look into Teir's (height) could the 3 be on differnt levels ? could it support itself with out adding a solid lump perhaps by twisting the arms in different directions ? Thats my 2cents

    Sustainable Mobile Phone

My Tutor made a great demonstration to me when i was talking to him 1 on 1 after class. My project is to design a gravitational Coin Sorter; as i was trying to explain how the thing works and going into detail, i noticed he was making an "over the top gesture" by rubbing his eye and pretending to yawn. (im just glad i caught into what he was doing very quickly so as not to make a fool of myself) the point he was making was that "The Drawing Should Explain It All !!!" that to not add information, notes, bulk text. it made alot of sence to me. You gota be able to get across your idea in the first 30seconds. it could be the difference in winning the client or be showen the exit.
  16. Very cool, love the concepts its joged my memory a good bit and give me some insperation.

    Introductions!

Awww i spent ages working on that, and no one said anything isnt that the best Intro outa all ?? im dissapointed now Gday scorpio.tn1, Welcome to the forum. Post up some of your work so we can have a look and comment. Best yet comment on other's work. Your intro is really alot of fluff to me. Get real and lets do some actual design. I am glad to see design communication students on here, see what there oppinions are. Anyways, the sketching session is great to start participating, and the finish section is good to browse and view. Anyways all the best! Fluff heres my stuff here : Its in the Sketch and Rendering section http://www.productdesignforums.com/index.php?showtopic=10396

    Scorpio.tn1 Work

This was a Uni project to solve Bike Theft. i came up with a Bike-Nav idea that use's "Hotspots". its updated via satilite with latest Statistics on crime reports, local cctv in the area and crowed cover. gives the user a simple Hotspot readout Green = good place to park/store bike, red = high crime, high risk of bike theft. 3D modeling and Exploded view created using "Ashlar Cobalt V.8" grpahics and Vectors created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop the 3rd was a quick sketch i created for a gun, i like the sexy curves.

    Best Marker To Use!

hay, i use Tria's myself, my tutor showed us a Demo of what he could do with them and it blowed me away at how adaptable they really are. i loved how at the end he added a can of compresed air and a tube and turned it into a Airbrush in 15seconds, just clips right on. was amazing also love the design of the Tria's as well.
