Proud to present the first in what I hope will become a series of tutorials.

When you traced the lines in the 2nd step of the tutorial, did you use a wacom for the line work?
Renzsu
I used a wacom for every step, except of course for the first one, which is a pen sketch in my sketchbook.
mono_transistor
Great job man.

I'll do it msn-wink.gif

Already, I'm expecting the next one...
fabsman
Really great job, I like cars, which have this simple design. OK, it's not a simple design, but a fast sketch, and there's nothing wrong with it.

I would like to know how this sketch looks like, if it is hand made, i mean with pencils, markers, pastels, or anything else. blinksmiley.gif

but, as we're on the topic, are there any suggestions for other tutorials? I have a few more layered painter files around here, I can make screenshots of those layers as well to show how the images are build up, for example those jigsaw machine 'renders' I did.
yeddeync
I would like to see the other layers if you still have them. Thanks.
bowlofnoodle
Model the car in 3D!
in either Rhino or Solidworks.

Nope, these are the layers I have.. I grouped and dropped all the layers of the same type (marker layers, airbrush layers).
ozmodiar
Great! I hope the tut's keep coming.
lemamio
renzu listen i have one question in what program you do this sketch ?
in alias skecbook or corel painter clasic or maybe you know and have better program ? i like painter but therein in don't find layers and blah-blah-blah
thanks man

I would like to see a quick marker render tutorial (monochrome) if possible ... just bought some copics but i couldnt find some good tutorial to learn of ... i would be very happy ... thx

btw this is also a very nice tutorial ... just that i dont have painter
Renzsu
This tutorial was done in Painter. Maybe we'll see a traditional medium tutorial sometime.. depends if anyone is willing to make one.
parel
Lemamio, Painter and Painter Classic bothe have layers. Infact the rendering that I did of the futuristic Volvo was done in Painter Classic
shane
awsome tut. thanks. i re-installed painter thanks to this... I have 1 problem though, as soon as i add another layer i loose all the tablet sensitivity. I can't get any response from any of the tools. it's just like using a mouse. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?.
parel
Try Alt-Tabbing to another program and back. Your wacom drivers are ceasing to function for whatever reason.
Renzsu
Yeah, I occasionally have problems with my drivers as well when I try to sketch something for the first time after booting windows, I need to move my mouse a bit and then the tablet works fine like it should.
rayeski
Thanks for the tutorial, I just recently downloaded a trial for painter because a lot of my friends I have made in the design world use it. I have always used photoshop before. I had a question about arcs and elipses. Is there a way to draw along a path like you would in photoshop to create clean elipses and arcs with line weight variations? Thanks.
charly_senn
Rayeski,

yes there is - look up the tool snap-to-path in Painter and it will give you all the info you need (I think!)

Really cool tutorial, can't wait to get my own wacom and do this myself.

I have a question though, why do you use corel instead of photoshop? I'm kind of suprised I guess because so many ppl use photoshop and this tutorial is just as good using corel.

Is corel more friendly to use with a wacom than it is with photoshop?
Renzsu
It doesn't really matter anymore if you use Painter of Photoshop for this style of sketching. You could easily do this in other software. For more artistic style renders though many prefer Painter. More a matter of personal preference I think.
nibscratch
YEAH Baby -Lovin tha fast sketch man !
