sketchyd..

The underwater vehicle rendering interests me the most, i really like this style of drawing. I struggle when it comes to drawing shadows for floating objects, but the shadow you've got there doesn't give me an idea of where the light source is coming from, and it also doesn't feel like it matches the view you've shown, but that could be just down to my own inexperience with this anyway.
And the other thing is the scale.. If i hadn't read that it was some sort of an armored vessel, I would've thought it was a hand held device of some sort! blushsmiley.gif If they're just ideation sketches for yourself, then I can't say anything really, nothing wrong with it at all.

Did you draw those characters from memory? that would be awesome, that's one thing i'd love to be able to do. Nice one.

thanks demha for the awesome feedback.
that underwater vehicle took me FOREVER to do.
im sure ive said this before... but my photoshop skills are weak in my pov.
and at first i had planned to go full color and realistic... but with my skills i just wasnt able to create the effect i wanted to.
so i decided to start off easy. go for more a of simple. 3value comic book style.
i was thinking that the light source was comin from the left. so i juss put the shadow to the right.
its not very precise. i need to learn more bout shadows and values as u can see here.

ah scale, funny cuz ive told other ppl about that, yet i missed it myself.
ill put up something that can be referenced to scale in future exercises :"]

these are just ideation sketches. no project related.
im juss having some fun wtih my tablet and photoshop.
i drew these from the top of my head.
i didnt really give much thoght before sketching.
just had fun with it.
and when i finsihed or started seeing something in my drawing.
i decided to pursue it and try to finish the sketches.

like the vessel it reminded me of a fish. so i went with that.
and i wanted it to look strong so i added bolts and armor like plating to it.

As far as a quick sketch goes, this is really nice...It looks fast and dynamic! The only thing is that I feel the dark greay shadow is a bit dark or maybe too thick. Either way, it seems to take the focus away from the main sketch. The highlights and low lights on the orange casing look real good!

I think I m going to get started on markers again! Definitely a skill worth having!

I d definitely be interested in seeing more! Cheers

ahh, yea i wasnt really sure how dark or light i should make the shadow.
i thoguht a mid tone would look like itd blend in with the side of the phone.
so i made it darker... but then now it feels to dark. like a hole.
should i have opted to go lighter instead?

thank you!
ill have more up soon.
gotta sketch like a mad dog this week.
get me ready for the new term^__^
yea the greenish yellow didnt do well to me either...
but that was the closest color to the real phone i had.
and also the marker was toooo dry,, thats why its all grainy.
look like i gotta go marker hunting again soon~
