Hey guys
here is an electronic water timer I designed last year in my 2nd year at uni. It was designed to be a low to medium budget product, the brief also specified solar panels with rechargeable batteries. The form could be a little more elegant I know, it was my first project using solidworks and studio max.

Hi, I like the design,
but I wonder, when you activate the gizmo, you flip the panel upwards. The solarpanels won't work as well in the shade, what's the standby time with the panel up.

greetings Alex

you flip the panel up when you want to adjust the watering time or change something, 99% of the time you would leave it down which turns the LCD screen off but everything else still operates.
As it runs on 2 AA batteries you could leave the panel up without charge for a couple of months.
