I like it. Reminds me of an ant. If I was being critical and it was my design I would probably extend the nose more (like a Formula 1 nose).

1. Give it a steering wheel. There's a reason cars don't have yokes and square wheels... it's when you're in a turn, you can loosen your grip as you power out, and the car straightens out the wheel for you... a yoke or square shaped wheel would not be easy to control in this situation.
2. Do the front wheels turn? Or is the whole car 'hinged'? 3. Add a splash shield in front of the driver near his feet to protect him from rain. -------------------- "the boundries between art and engineering exist only in our minds" - Theo Jansen

I really like that, actually. It might be a little bit too radical for the purposes of the contest, but the design is really unique and does a good job of combining an F1 and motorcycle aesthetic and driving experience. Not sure how I feel about the grille on the front, though - it looks a little tacked on and superfluous.
As for the splash guards, I don't think anyone would drive a vehicle like that in the rain. Strictly a sunny weather toy. Though I guess road dirt would still be a concern. Some sort of fairing might be a good idea. And about that steering wheel comment...

I liked the sketch better, some how it doesnt work in 3D.
About the design, I got to say have the window covering the top is genius. I was thinking about the interior design for ages and I have never come across anything that is similar to yours. Innovative for sure mate. But yeah don't let your confidence blind you, make it ten times better, cover all areas. -------------------- |

hey
ive been waiting for some Peugeot Contest posts. nice design, very aggressive. maybe a little to aggressive for the please theme, but that just personal opinion. i love the sketches as well. i think you should have kept the lights on the canopy as in the sketches, its a nice original touch. i love the top sketch, head on from above. it really shows the heritage inspiration and the call out to old open wheel F1. nice tie in to the theme. i agree with turbofrog's re-buttal (spelling) that it is strictly a summer car. also, booya on the steering wheel. my only concern is the aerodynamics of the open cockpit. it seems that being open in the front like that would cause the cockpit to act as a parachute. but this is a conceptual design and the peugeot comps are much more about aesthetics than function, so i wouldn't really worry about it. good on ya newt |

As for splash guards, you have to be prepared. Even if it is a toy, the rain from the front wheels would hit the driver, and possibly cause a loss of control. -------------------- "the boundries between art and engineering exist only in our minds" - Theo Jansen

I think as the previous Peugeot contests have shown nothing is too radical. I think the winners tend to be the furthest entries from the norm.
Yes there would be issues with engineering, ergonomics, and logic, but thats for production vehicles. Lets not forget last years winner was a giant bubble. |

Is that a Photoworks render by the way? Looks like Alias to me. Knowing parel it probably is photoworks Cool stuff, I really like that glass fighter jet style dome. This would make a cool track car I think, although I hear that in-wheel motors aren't the best for performance vehicles because of the weight distribution and unsprung weight. |

Nice rendering,...
I was just wondering 2 things: * When you put the "roof glass" at this angle is there no problem in getting blinded by the sun when you want to show of your car on a sunny day ? * If you do not let the "roof glass" run all the way down and "close" it will the wind not be an aerodynamic problem and causes a lot of noise in the driverseat ? Still I envy this kind of designs,...I'm just an amateur (well not even that,...I like to draw in Solid Works and I'm just started to "create" a car,...if someone want to send me some excamples in SW I would like it a lot ,..so I can learn from you "profesionals". Greetings, |

Thanks for the comments. They are things that have been swirling around my head too.
w i l l: It is a Photoworks render. The rims are decals as I did not have the time to model a cool set. In fact I was in such a hurry that these are almost stock renders from the Sunset Studio in Photoworks Studio. Almost stock because I desatureate the background to grey in Phtoshop once I was done with the render. I barely had the time to model let alone render, but I thought they turned out great. I will give it a more custom try later. Turbofrog: I suppose it looks radical. The thought process was how do I design something that is too crazy for Peugeot designers to do in real life, and what would look cool in Project Gotham Racing. Then I tried to work in the PLEASE rubric. Cleveland: Turbulence will probably be a problem. Maybe i can complete a mirror image of the cockpit below the present one? I believe that I have to build some kind of baffle system or modify the cockpit somehow. My excuse is that I was trying to think of something innovative visually and figure it out later with some feedback from everyone here. Like I said the whole model was done in 5 days, about 2-3 hours a day waking up at 4am in the morning -yeck. I thought about it a bit as you can see from the sketch, but I never really got the time to work on it. So more crits are welcome. I think that this design polarized a lot of people I showed it to. Many didnt see how a guy sat in there, and part of the problem is that I failed to model in the foot rest area. Some guys are having a problem with the visibility. I was hoping that the open glass cockpit would give a good view. Many liked the general proportions, and look of the frame and understructure.
