Well guys, while the Poll was heading to an end, and I was almost sure who was the winner,
I did this "trial", mainly with solids and some surface tricks...
Knight___First_Trial_001.jpg ( 89.05K )
Number of downloads: 54I will try to use mainly surfaces now in a new model trying to get more natural looking details... Really it is a very good challenge to get the model as near as possible to the original picture. See you all!!

Excellent work Ragde! You are a credit to these forums!
The rendering looks excellent, how did you get the reflections to look so realistic? My renders always look 'flat' when rendering shiny objects. |

Thanks Robbie for your words,
I am using SW2007 now (finally), I should say that the rendering facilities have been improved a lot. But, not matter wich version, you have to get something to reflect on your shiny models. If you go to the spherical room option you can use an image as a background. There are places on the web that have a lot of such images prepared to cover a sphere. Anyway, perhaps some day we can do something about that ciao and.... TRY TO DO THE CHESS KNIGHT (very good experience) Ragde -------------------- |

Nice effort Amvi, keep doing!.
About the rendering, yes, it could be better, but I know you are doing your best!. Maybe at the end of this challenge we can go around some rendering tips. ciao -------------------- |

This time I'm taking it a little bit more serious!
I've decided to take a different aproach, and although it's a lot of time consuming, I'm beggining to like how it's coming out! Here are some images of the ongoing work. ![]() On the next one you can see why I say it's time consuming! ![]() Luckully, my line of work permits me to play with this while I'm on my job! 8) This head took me around 6 hours to do! :/ I'm just having some "problems" with the ends of the ears, the nose and the chick. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to finnish them. -------------------- McGreg

mcqreq:
Very interesting approach !. Really this is one positive way to go (maybe with less profiles). Time consuming, yes. But it worth the effort. Let's see how it is going to come out. ciao Nice! -------------------- |

Well done, Monkeyboy!
Very good. It looks very natural indeed. In this kind of models, surfaces are the way to go, trying to create a "mesh" that you can adjust to produce what you are looking for. Some softwares can do this adjusting process more easily than others. Anyway, is a very artistic process... Nice! -------------------- |
