Hi Ragde.Your tutorials are the best, but i have a question. Why you don`t use solids instead surfaces?

Dear robotelu:
In the past i solved almost everything using solids. But in many occasions I found myself in trouble trying to solve some modeling task or complicated parts of a model. As soon as I learned a bit of surface modeling I found almost unlimited possibilities for modeling very difficult parts. Anyway, in SW many tasks can be easily done using solids, and also, many can be easily done using surfaces instead. And Solids can be turned into surfaces and vice versa (Closed surfaces). Thats the beauty! Ciao -------------------- |

Any reason you've used the flex feature?
Why dont you just pick opposite corners on the surface loft? I think it gives better control if you use normal to profile or to face etc.. and change the values. Not fussed on the way it twists. -------------------- |

Phil:
Yes you are right. I just wanted to explore the flex command. I am trying to see what we can do with those "strange" commands. Ciao -------------------- |

Fair enough, they do give some strange outcomes sometimes, especially for more organic shapes.

I think it gives better control if you use normal to profile or to face etc.. and change the values. Not fussed on the way it twists. I know it's been 5 months since this was posted, but for anyone doing the tutorial I thought this might be useful. A reason to use the flex command in this instance, instead of picking adjacent sides to make it twist, is that it is very easy to edit the twist angle. If the client or someone else doesn't like the amount of twist it is easy to edit the flex feature to change the twist angle. Just right click on the Flex feature and click edit feature. I think this gives more control down the line. My 2 cents. Eric |

Yes my friend, you are right:
For instance this is a Bottle with a Twist of 180° instead of 90°. Is easier to change that with the Flex command...
