What would you recommend a 3D modeler who's about to chose between nvidia GeForce 9600GT and a radeon HD4670 cards? if you could elaborate, that would be tops.

Or if you have another recommendation in that price range, please let me know too.

Thank you so much in advance.

I would personally go with the Nvidia - ATI's gaming class drivers are less than stellar in CAD apps.

Nvidea. You can use software to "trick" your system into thinking your Nvidea is actually a Quaddro, which allows realtime rendering in solidworks, and a few other added perks.

A word of warning - most newer cards do not allow softmodding.

Here is a decent article on the process. You'd need to look at the 8800 series cards if you wanted to consider softmodding:

Additionally some apps (like solidworks) will respond very well, and some won't make much of a difference at all.

I'm guessing you want to stay sub $100 but it may be worth looking around Ebay. If you think you need a Quadro class card they have some FX3500's and some other older cards going for fairly cheap.

Thanx guys. Actually, the reason I kept the 7300 for a long time is exactly softmodding. I would emulate a Quadro FX 350 and Solidworks worked pretty great. I was aware that softmodding with current cards was disabled but still, it's time to get a better card anyways.

Thanx for your input!

PS, I'm in Mexico so Ebay is not my first option, but I will give it a try, nevertheless.
