A Consumer Researcher position is available.

Our client is looking for a consumer researcher for the Consumer and Product Insights Department (CPI) within Research & Development. We seek someone with expertise in consumer testing methodologies, who has a passion for the user experience, is consumer focused and thrives within an innovative and team based environment. A large part of our job is to assess the user experience. As such CPI researchers conduct product performance and usability research, and synthesize consumer-product insights for their teams.
This position requires knowledge of research methods for the social sciences. Prior experience with sensory research or testing outside of the US is helpful. Candidates must also possess effective communication skills and enjoy working in a flexible, ever changing environment.

Function Specific Accountabilities:
• Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate consumer research to support other areas of RD&E in the product development process. Interpret and report results.
• Create custom research plans and oversee the development of study materials from test instructions to questionnaires as well as manage the execution of the research.
• Utilize most appropriate consumer research methods, data strategy, experimental designs, and statistical analyses for quantitative research.
• Conduct in-home interviews; synthesize the qualitative information into meaningful findings.

General Activities:
• Establish relationships and work effectively with internal individuals/teams and external suppliers to meet commitments effectively and efficiently, identify and solve problems, assess needs, and achieve business results. Build an understanding of the assigned category, customer/client needs and expectations within your area of accountability.
• Develop methods and processes to meet client needs for custom research.
• Communicate status of work to appropriate parties in order to keep them informed and involved.
• Express oneself clearly, orally and in writing, with the ability to give presentations to project teams and to write technical reports addressing the business significance of findings. Ability to synthesize information across studies.
• Work on smaller projects independently or larger projects with mentoring to recommend priorities, plan resource allocation, and coordinate schedules to meet project objectives. Efficiently utilize project management tools. Modify plans and actions as needed.
• Demonstrate ability to gather and understand prior art in the appropriate technical discipline and the ability to use the information to develop a basic research plan.
• Value Diversity: Acknowledge similarities and differences of others and using this knowledge to work effectively on a team or with individuals, suppliers and consumers of varied backgrounds, cultures, styles, and views in an effort to improve performance and increase productivity.
• Set high standards of performance for self; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-impose standards of excellence.

Requirements:
• A Master’s degree in Psychology, Anthropology, other Social Science, Sensory Research, Human Factors or advanced design degree with 2-4 years of Consumer Research experience. Or a BS with 6 years of consumer research experience. A minor in research methods and/or statistics is helpful.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design and understanding of statistics.
• Sensory Research experience is a plus.
• Consumer Research experience outside of the US is a plus.
• Corporate environment experience is a plus.
